FINISHES

PAINT GRADE

Painting your cabinets allows you to have unlimited color choices in your kitchen. It creates uniformity and can hide the grain pattern for a smooth finish on tighter grained types of wood like Maple. On coarser-grained wood like Oak, the grain texture may be partially visible under the finish. The top and base cabinets don’t necessarily have to have matching paint colors.

LAMINATE

Wrapping your cabinets in a laminate finish can create a stunning, streamlined look. They are more resistant to scratches and less likely to warp or rot than traditional wood cabinets.  Although not waterproof, they are designed to handle light splashes better than wood.

STAINED

Staining your cabinets allows you to enhance the natural beauty of the wood, while also adding beautiful color and protection. Cabinet stains can range from light to very dark. Light stains will allow you to see more of the wood’s natural character, while darker stains will hide much of the grain, but can create richer color. Stains don’t offer as many color choices as paints do.

NATURAL

A natural wood finish does not use stains or paint and does not alter the color of the wood. A clear coat may be applied for protection, so that the natural color is visible beneath the protective layer, bringing out the wood’s natural beauty and color variations.

FAUX FINISHED

Faux finishing, glazing, or distressing the finish by adding dents, gouges, or sanded edges to your cabinets can create a unique or perfectly aged look.
